Hello! My name is Geoffrey Allan Merritt and I am delighted to share my family history with you. As the name of the blog suggests, this is the Geoff Merritt family history.
I was born in 1963 in the lovely seaside town of Bognor Regis on the south coast of England. If you are curious about my age at the time of your visit, a quick calculation will give you the answer.
My parents immigrated to Australia in 1964, and I celebrated my first birthday on the ship en route to Australia. Although my parents are both from the UK, they met and married in Australia before returning to the UK where both my older brother and I were born. But that is a story for another day.
So, why genealogy? My mother has been working on her family tree for some time, and in 2006, she gave me a copy of her Gedcom file to start my own. Recently, I have taken a keen interest in researching my ancestors and uncovering the stories that make up my family history.
